Before I begin today’s post- NOTICE that on the right side there is a new section that says Register for Give Away.  If you will put your name in the box (there is an example there) and click register. You  will be taken care of.   This is a random draw and the computer will do it for me.  No stress for me either. Ha!  Since, I have not actually had a winner yet, I will be giving away the Free One Night at the NEW Comfort Inn and Suites.  If you choose to not use this but would rather give it to a friend or family member to use on a visit to Scottboro- you are welcome to do that.  It might be something you would like to take advantage of with just getting away for the night…Ha!

It is Wednesday and that means that we are half way through the work week… I always feel like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel when Wednesday rolls around. Ha!

I know that many of the males may not care too much for today’s post except for some of the food items but I had to share these with you.  My list is getting longer and longer.  I don’t like keeping these a “secret” and you  not knowing these great “finds” so here you go.

We like to have things to snack on but really try our very best to keep healthy snacks in the kitchen.  Summer seems to be easier because there are so many cucumbers, fresh fruit, carrots that my girls and I love. (Jimmy is not a fruit person except for bananas)  So, when I find something that not only the girls and I like BUT Jimmy too- it is a good day!! Ha!  I just discovered this Nature’s Valley Granola Nut Clusters.  Found them at Walmart but grocery stores may have them too.  They come in a resealable bag and you can just take a few “clusters” out and close it until the next person.

Speaking of bananas…. I know many of  you like the combination of banana and peanut butter. Where that came from, I am not sure but only in my “adult life”, have I taken a “liking” to this.  You take a banana (keep peeling on) and you cut off both ends of the banana.  Slice the banana down the middle (it should look like a hot dog bun) but do not cut all the way through.  Take some crunchy or smooth Jiff All Natural Peanut butter (or whatever peanut butter you choose)and put it down in middle as if you were stuffing a hot dog bun. Close the bannana up and wrap with siran wrap.  Put the entire thing (remember, banana peeling is still on) in the freezer.  Take out after it has had time to get hard.  Unwrap and slice into discs. (should look like a round circle).  Great snack…  This could be your snack at night or during the day.  My friend Bonnie, shared this with me. Ha!

Then to a totally different item… I know many of you have had the flu pay a visit to you and your family and many of those symptoms have included a runny nose.  There is two things in the “paper category” that we do not buy generic in….Toilet paper and tissue (kleenex) . Ha!  These Puffs Plus with a touch of Shea Butter is a box of  “upper class” kleenex.  They will make sure that you do not look like Rudolph in October or any time of the  year.  I have been a big fan of Shea butter for a couple of years so I knew that I would like these before I even tried them.

 This is a “Find” that Peggy L. told me about and I must agree with her- it is definitelyworth sharing.  It is Bel Gioioso Parmesan Cheese but the great part about it is that it is freshly shaved…  Just like you would get on a salad in a restaurant.  Guess where you can find this?  The Piggly Wiggly.  I have to say that Chris did well in stocking this.  It is in the refrigerator section with the other cheeses.  You need to give it a try! I am not sure if you have heard that a Scottsboro High School student, Kelsie Teal was diagnose with leukemiaseveral weeks ago. She is at St. Jude’s Hospital at this time.   She is a student of Holly Michaels’ Creative Writing Class and also on the softball team.  These two groups are coming together to help SHS raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  The Light the Night Walk will be next Thursday, October 15th at Big Spring Park in Huntsville.  T-shirts are on sale now for $10.  The money that they raise will go to theLeukemia Society in honor of Kelsie.  If you or your child is interested in ordering a T-shirt, please go  here to print off a order form.  If you have questions regarding this, you can email at pennyg@scottsboro.org    Orders must be in by 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 8th. (TOMORROW)  What a great way to honor Kelsie and also to raise money for the Leukemia Society.

Big C Drugs has got the Halloween decorations for you… These are great gifts for teachers or if you want to add a couple of decorations to your “present decorations”. Ha!   You can put candles in these and they will “brighten” any room.

And yes, what is Halloween with out candy.  Big C Drugs has that covered too and these cute dishes for the candy to go in – you cannot go wrong.  Trust me, I do not care for “nick-nacks” but I consider all of these decorations “useful” ones. Ha! 

If you are in search for an Ipod, laptop, a desktop computer, you should go by Greenback Pawn and see their selection.  They also have a couple of cameras, furniture and a tool box on wheels (the really fancy kind)- it is basically like new.  So, if have been considering purchasing one of these- you may want to go by Greenback Pawn (on the same side of the square as the Bake Shop) and see what they have before going out and paying more…(above is an Acer Aspire 5050)

I love these charms that The Grapevine has right now.  They clip on the chains and you can put one charm or ten charms on a chain.  This is a perfect gift for someone that you want to give something that is personal and that they can remember you by or occasion.  I love gifts that I can remember exactly who gave it to me and when.  This is one of those.  Lots of charms to choose from too.

This is a great idea for a birthday gift for a girl.  My Lily loves these PJ’s  (MM likes these the shorts) that The Grapevine has in their Kids/tweens area.  You can buy both the shorts and top or you can buy one of each. (they are sold separately).   If you are needing the “girl gifts”- you have a great selection of “goods” to choose from at The Grapevine.

I have had two people ask me in the past couple of weeks , “Where can you get little boy shoes?”.  So, I thought I would give a “sneak” at just some of the cute shoes that The Toad Stool has for the “boy” in the family.  You can find the “little ones” and then even the older ones.  No need to go out of town to get shoes for the kids…  The Toad Stool has you covered.

I was so glad to discover this “Find” at The Toad Stool.  My Lily wanted a doll house a couple of years ago and I searched catalogs, Internet and stores for the perfect doll house… Never found what I wanted her to have.  Now, look- The Toad Stool not only this pretty and pink house but they have several to choosefrom.  Don’t worry, if you are not great with “assembly projects” (like myself)- Greta will take care of  “building” your dream house for $25!!!  If you think your child OR grandchild might delighted to have one of these for Christmas, you will want to take care of that NOW while they are still in stock. (especially, if you want Greta to do the labor)

This bracelet looks just like ME. Ha!  It caught my eye while I was in The Jewelry Box last week.  Very good price too, if I might say.  I love the idea of engraving it.  I think it would be great to put my girls names or initials on this.  You need to go byThe Jewelry Box and check out all of her bracelets.  She is getting new “goods” in each week.

 When I saw this necklace at The Jewelry Box, I thought it look just like something that my mother would wear… What is even more unique about this necklace is that Elaine (owner) designed and made this herself.  This could be put with an outfit for a dressy occasionor it could be put with jeans too.  You really could not go wrong with purchasing this one. Tell them that you want the necklace “designed by Elaine“…Ha! 

I have told you how much I LOVE Yankee Candles.  If you did not know, Woods Cove Flowers and Gifts carry these amazing candles.  They have these candles for“Breast Cancer” month and they really smell good.  I am usually not a “pink candle” person because they are usually “flowery or powdery” smelling and that is not me.  But, these candles really did smell good to me.  They do not have many left, so you need to get by there today if possible and pick up one. (I will be doing a “October/Breast Cancer” Post next week)

What fun “gifts” these are for those War Eagle and Roll Tide fans… Woods Cove Flowers and Gifts have you covered when it comes to Alabama and Auburn “goods”.  These are “signs” for the drive way, garage or anywhere you can park a a car. Ha!  You will also see in the bottom left corner- a “eating tray” for those meals that you just cannot pull yourself away from the TV.

Also, don’t forget that if you are planning on participating in the Spreading Hope 5K Walk/Run Race- that you can go here  and print off a registration form. This will be in honor of Jackson Reed. (You can go to Local Events to read more)   If you cannot participate but would like to purchase a T-shirt, you can do that by emailing your questions to spreadinghope5K@yahoo.com and someone on the committee will get back with you.  T-shirts are $12 for those who ONLY want to purchase a shirt.  Those that are participating in the 5K, will get one with your race packet that you will be able to pick up the day before the event or the day of the event.
