Today is all about my “Finds” and there are many.  I will still not get to share them all with you today so there will be more to come later.

 

The first that I wanted to share with you is a place that I have talked to you about before… 50 Taters which is located on the square.  I am not a pot-roast person (except for the carrots and potatoes) but most everyone loves some comfort food and “Pot Roast” falls into that food selection.  Shannon O. told me that the Pot Roast Special which is on Wednesdays is very good.  So now, that it is getting cooler outside and you want something warm for lunch- you may want to give this “lunch” a try.  By the way, many of you (including myself) have wondered where the name, “50 Taters” came from??? Well, my dad ask himself and he was told by the owner, David Barkley, that he was turning 50 years old and he wanted to serve some type of potato with every meal that he served.  So, there you have it. Ha! (the do serve them in a bag, stewed, mashed, fried, salad, etc.)

 

Talk of the Town has got in some great charms that says Halloween and Fall all over them (literally).  They are made by local artist, Denise White.  If you have not seen these, they are “fabulous” as Bruce says..Ha!  These are great gifts that can be kept and worn each year.  I love to get “treats” that I can keep, use and remember who gave it to me…

 

These are fresh out of the box at Talk of the Town.  They come in Alabama and Auburn.  Bruce has the hand towels, Christmas ornaments and the platters.  Whether it is Alabama or Auburn- they each have special landmarks, street signs or a “locations” that come to mind when you think of the campus’ of each of these Universities.  If you are looking for that something special when it comes an Auburn or Alabama fan or alumni- these are great gifts.

These “car tag” pictures frames are unique but also colorful and would go great in a game room, office or study.   Love the colors in them.  Talk of the Town is where they came from and also where you can find these great Alabama candles that smell out of this world. Great gift ideas…That is a candle votive holder on the left that is definitely a gift that would get lots of conversation

I just started buying these about a month ago.   Jimmy loves his rice and these are quick and easy to make if he wants them for lunch or dinner (for those nights when the girls and I are not in the mood for brown rice).  It is Minute Ready to Serve Brown Rice and it comes two servings in a package.  Each bowl comes by the cupfor portioning and can literally be cooked in one minute.  Makes me feel even better because it has more than a day’s worth of whole grains per serving.  What about that for some “healthy eating”? Ha!

Most of us have digital cameras these days.  I am the worst to not turn my camera off when I get through using it.  These Duracell Ultra Advanced batteriesare the best.  The “formula” of Duracell Ultra is designed for high power-demand electronics so you can use them for all of those electronic games too.  Even though I still seem to forget to turn the camera off, they still last forever.  Great for toys too!

I hate buying bath towels- it is one of those things that I just keep moving to the bottom of the list.. ha! But I found some that were really great prices but also are soft too.  To add to that, these Canopy Bath Towels by Walmart do not shrink or fade after a few washes.  Trust me (just ask my mom who helps me keep my “towel” laundry up), we use MANY towels each day at the Green House.   Ha!

I told you I had found a great deal on black leggings….Well, I was not even looking for any but I saw them at Family Dollar the other day and I took a look.  Never thinking that they would be something that I would be interested in…I was wrong- they are not the thin ones but thick are not dull cotton black that is not the best for when you want to “dress up” a little.  I got myself and MM a pair and SHE even approved of them!  Best part, $7 a pair.  They have gray and chocolate too.  I have not washed them so if they fall apart- just know you have only lost $7.  I personally do not think they will because they are a thicker fabric.

I have found a new snack/dessert when I am in desperate need of some chocolate.  It is Yoplait Delights Parfait.  It is a chocolate pudding that is topped off with some raspberry pudding.  VERY GOOD!!!  Walmart is where I found these..  Bad part, is I have to hide them from the girls. (I wanted you to get a good look at what it looks like in the grocery store. Ha!)

With cool weather brings soups and stews for dinner at our house.  We are not big bread eaters but these are great for those “warm dinners”.  They are Pillsbury Savorings Bread Bowl Bites.  They are in the freezer section at Walmart.  Be a nice change from crackers or cornbread.

The Market is still getting in more and more goods. 

For all of you KAVU people, The Market has LOTS of items in the store.  They have your purses, bags, hats and boggins.  You walkers and runners need to get yourself  a boggin for those cold mornings. Ha!

I love this bird bath that Jeff has at The Market.  It looks like it is made from part of a tree trunk but also “rock looking” at the same time.  This would be pretty inside the house too.  Great idea for that hard to buy for person at Christmas.  Remember, The Market has Lay-Away so no need to wait to start shopping for Christmas.

Also, if you have a child or grandchild that love being crafty or working with their hands, you will want to call The Market and make your reservation for this event.

I was by Harbin’s today and there was a car that caught my eye.  I have always thought of this car as a “Company Car” because if you saw someone in a company car- it was this or something similar.  Well, the look has changed and I think it looks GREAT. 

It is the Ford Taurus.  I am pretty sure it will be a big hit for Ford this year.  Does not look like the Ford Taurus’ that I have seen in the past.  I wish I could show you pictures of all angles because it is really a great looking car.  I am sure that the guys at Harbin’s would LOVE to put you in one of these 2010 For Taurus.

 

Also Harbin’s also has their “Truck Month” going on.  You can get a 2009 F150 – 0% for 60 months or up to $5000 cash back.  It is about to be winter and that means the “big boys” will need a new “TOY” to go hunting in or to just get around in that “SNOW” that we are going to get this winter. Ha!  I think I would be okay driving one of these.  Love the sun roof (or the correct name- moon roof) on this.  Not sure if I have ever seen one of those on a truck.Ha!

 Speaking of  winter, my dad is already telling me that I need to get my car by to see him so he can check my anti-freeze.  Everyone needs to do this before it gets so cold and then you do not have warm air one morning.  My dad’s great mechanics will take care of you.  Tell them that I sent you! Ha!!

Then for with the cold weather, that means you need to have the kids some warm and styling clothes.  Greta at The Toad Stool has ALL that you need.  My Lily loves these boots.  They are great looking and you can wear these with every thing.  The poca dot will look great with dresses and pants. The chocolate leather and sweater  boots are perfect for all ages too.  These also come in black and grey.  Theseboots you cannot go wrong with.

 

These sweat jackets will be great for those cool mornings.  Then they can “shed” them as it gets warmer throughout the day.  What “boy” would not like to wear one of these?  There is definitely nothing “sissy” about these.  Remember, Greta’s old son is getting to that stage where you have to be careful in what you ask them to wear.  She knows all of the “Likes” and “Dislikes”. ha!

I am a “hat person” and I love all of the “great hats” that The Toad Stool has in the store right now.  These are the Harry Potter Hats.  You can find just about any kind of fun hat for “HE” or “SHE” that you want.  Remember, most schools have a “Hat Day” and they would be the TALK with one of The Toad Stool hats. Ha!

This week, I wanted to show you some more photos of the inside of the NEW Comfort Inn and Suites.  Shonda Walls, the manager of BOTH Comfort Inn Hotels in Scottsboro is great to work with and is so helpful with any question that you may have regarding these great “lodging” places.  This is a great place to stay even during the winter months because it has an INDOOR POOL!!!  They also have a jacuzzi as well.   When we going out of town to swim meets during the winter, we always try to stay at a hotel that has an indoor pool.  Much entertainment for the kids. You could always take your kids on a fun overnight trip but just down the road – Scottsboro’s NEW Comfort Inn and Suites.

You will find that the new Comfort Inn and Suites has a great meeting room too.  It even becomes bigger as needed with being able to open up smaller rooms into it.  This would be great for Holiday Parties, Family Reunions, Meetings or even Birthday Party Dances for the tweens.  This picture does not do this facility justice.  So much nicer in person.  Shonda, the manager will be more than happy to work with you if you would like to plan an event here. (The room is MUCH bigger than it appears in this picture)

Also,  Therapy Unlimited will host the Annual Breast Cancer Survivor Reception from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. this afternoon.  Sherry McCauley will be the guest speaker.  There will be food and also gifts for everyone.  What a great way to kick off Breast Cancer Month than with honoring those survivors.
