22nd Scottsboro/North Jackson Showdown!!!
Posted by pennyAug 27
It is the weekend and it is also the weekend that two football teams in Jacksonc County will come together at Trammell Stadium for their 22nd “Show Down” between the Wildcats and the Chiefs. (the two pictures below are work of Jennifer Bone-she has link on my home page that you can see all that she has to offer)

This is where the Scottsboro Wildcats and the North Jackson Chiefs will be “showing their stuff” on the field.

No matter where this game is played, it is one that always brings the “fans” out. Tonight will be no different. I always compare this game to the Auburn/Alabama Game but on a “smaller scale“. It will for sure be an exciting underneath the “Friday Night Lights”. I know the Football Players, Cheerleaders and the Band would LOVE to have a “stadium full” showing their support!!! That goes for BOTH SIDES!!! This game was not a big “game” when I was in school or at least I do not remember it being so the “excitement” that I get is nothing like what the students feel. I have to say that I“envy” them a little. I just hope that they are not having to study for test and do allot of homework on the “Eve” of this big game. Ha! I am sure there will be lots of red/black on the visitors side and then lots of black/goldon the home side but what I expect on BOTH sides is allot of nervous, excited and anxious fans. Wishing both teams a safe game and a good game!! (I know I should not say this but I have to give a big, “Go Wildcats”!!!- I did graduate from there you know??Ha!)

After the game, make sure to turn your radio station to WWIC for the “The Clarion Friday Night Scoreboard” where the “Gurus of the Gridiron” will be discussing high school, college and pro football topics. You can also catch the “show” onChannel 2 on Scottsboro Cable. You never know what the topic of conversation will be during that time but I am sure it will be interesting especially AFTER this game!!!

I have heard that there will be several joining Bradley P., Travis T. and Bradley C this week- those will be Scott Hodges, Kirk Griggs, Scott Matthews, Heath Tate, Jeremiah McCormick and Jason Arnold. As you can see, STILL NO FEMALES!!! We have got to do something about that. Maybe by the time my MM gets to High School, I may know a little more about Football. ha!. (above is Scott Matthews and Travis Tubbs at last weeks “Show”)

Last week during “The Clarion Friday Night Scoreboard“, I did learn that Woodville High School will be getting a new football stadium soon and that the Little Debbie of the week was my very favorite: “Swiss Roll”! Ha! I will try to learn a couple of more things this week. I owe those guys a “Big Thank You” for giving “Penny’s Purse” a shout-out last Friday night.. Also, for you guys- if you have not had the opportunity to read The Clarion this week- you need to do so…..There is a 2009 SEC Preview. I have saved it to read all of it later- in hopes that I might learn SOMETHING but I did read enough to know it was worth me keeping to finish up in “full”. Ha!

Some of you may have seen this cake that “The Cake Lady” has made but I wanted to share it with you again. She can do whatever your heart and “taste-buds” desire. I could go on and on about Leslie and her cakes. I have referred MANY to her and I have never had one person tell me that they were disappointed.

Also for your little girls- they have to be sporting their Team Hair bows– (No bow, No go!!!) Chelsey made these bows and you can find herlink on my home page under Chelsey’s Hair bows- she works at the Grapevine so you can always go by there and talk to her about your hair accessories too.

I know there are many other Jackson County Football Teams going on tonight so please know that I am wishing all those teams “Good Luck” too.
I wanted to make sure to have time, space and words to tell you about some of my Purse Advertisers… It is an exciting time of the year because all of the new “merchandise” that they ordered over the summer is not beginning to come in. A little like “Christmas”…Ha!

I found this at the Grapevine. If you are wanting a useful but fun gift this is for your and it is “personal” too because it has your initial on it… This gift has a trivet, pack of napkins and then a wine cork. Of course, I am showing you a “G” but they have any letter that you are looking for.

For you girls who love to “sport” your team colors- The Grapevine has some new blue/orange purses and then some hounds too with red purses too. I think the “hounds tooth” could be North Jackson too.

Woods Cove Flowers and Gifts are “branching out” and they have got this area that has got some GREAT Treats!!! I know because I have tried them. Ha! I showed you there trail mix a few weeks ago and now they have a few more food products… What even makes these more fun is that the Picante Salsa and Nacho Cheese Sauce come in Alabama and Auburn jars. Tell me that is not a great gift for the male in the family. Even for a family treat or if you are like me- it is just bought for the family snack. ha! They also have a Chipotle Sauce to marinate chicken in before grilling….I think this would even be good over cream cheese and served with wheat thins or some other type of cracker.

Woods Cove Flowers and Gifts have also got a new line of wind chimes in the store. These are even more special because they have a place that you can put “In Memory Of” on them. (this is on the wood piece that is hanging at the bottom of the chimes) There is nothing like the sound of a great set of wind chimes. What a way to relax and enjoy the sound of these chimes while either outside or even from the inside.

It is getting closer to the College Football Games to begin and Patrick at Big C Drugs has your Auburn and Alabama Flags for you vehicles. All you need to do is go by there and go in the door, look to the right and you will see these flags. You know it is Football Season when you are driving down the road in September and see the “Team” flags flying from the car windows. Ha! Everyone can splurge on these they are such good prices…

These Wall Plaques are new also at Big C Drugs. They are not too big but would look great on an easel, on your front door (if you have a wood door), or just hanging in a small area. They are really good looking and you how I like the “Initials”- just makes it a little more personal….

The Marketis still continueing there “Outside Work” and it is looking better and better with each new thing that Jeff adds and does to the place. I think when he gets through with it all, he will be getting calls daily to come look at doing yards all over the county.

Jeff is a distributor now so he will be able to get whatever style, color, shape that you will want and need….I hate to give him too many compliments because I don’t want his head to get too large but Jeff is very creative and talented when it comes to all areas of landscaping. As soon as the outside of The Market is complete- then all the new “goods” will be coming in and I cannot wait to show you what will be in that yellow building…You are going to be impressed and even more excited. I have had several people tell me that they got their “Bags” that I told you about last week!!

This is as large as I could get the picture of this beautiful property in the Larkinsville area. (close to my stomping grounds) . To see the awesome pictures of this property, you just need to click here. Berry Land Company is the one that can show you and tell you all you need to know about this “heaven on earth”. It is 36.97 acres and is absolutely breath taking- I really cannot believe I am saying that because I have told you that I am not a good “Country Girl” but I cannot not lie to you- it is a little piece of gold right here in Jackson County. The Pylants will take care of you so just go to there website (on home page) and get all of your contact information.

And last but not least, I have to give a Thank You to my dad, Jimmy Rousseau for taking care of my “car needs“… Really, I should be giving THANKS to his GREAT employees.. They are the ones that “see after me”. Ha! Also, I would like to welcome Mark Greenhaw to the Rousseau’s Auto Service “Clan“…He now will get to take care of me too. (He has no idea what he has got himself into…)

I want to wrap today’s post up with wishing the Scottsboro Jr. High Volleyball Team, “Good Luck” on Saturday at their Tournament in Fort Payne. (I have so much to learn with Volleyball- why is it that my girls are loving sports and I am so uneducated on them). So just know if you see me at a sporting event- don’t sit by me unless you are patient and can answer my 101 questions about the game. Ha!

One of the great things about advertising on Penny’s Purse is that I do not have to go to “print” but rather just “click” a button to publish…. With that said, Bruce at Talk of the Town is in a CRISIS!!! But the “crisis” is good for you and I!!! He has got to remove lots of merchandise to begin bringing ALL the new “goods” into the store. So beginning today (FRIDAY) at 12 noon and it will go until 6:00 p.m. tonight- EVERYTHING in the store (excluding Arthur Court) will be 30% off!!! That means team merchandise, home goods, outdoor goods, Paper goods (if you know of a party that you will be having in the coming weeks/months- you need to BUY NOW!!), gifts and everything else in the store will be on sale…. But if you just want to “chance” it or you just cannot get there today, then you will have one more opportunity- you can go and see what is still left in the store tomorrow (SATURDAY) from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and it will be 40% off at that time. If you only have 30 minutes to spare- I know it would be worth that time to stop by and see what Bruce has that you NEED!!
Have a Great Weekend!! Next week is FULL on the “Purse”. I will have the categories updated by Sunday night so check back then to see all the NEW updates.
