“Cold Treat” Finds…….
Posted by pennyJun 9
I was not going to do this post until later in the week but I have had so many people suggest things for my “Finds Post” that I had to go ahead and share some of those with you. Actually, these are all the “Cold” Finds and you will see that there are several. The other finds will come later on- they range from kids water guns to “Peace” totes. Also, Thanks to all of those that have been sending me great information/history on Jackson County. I feel like I could be the next “Historian” of Jackson County. ha! Not really, but I am amazed at how much information is out there in peoples memories. I may just have to compile all of my “Do You Remember” Post into a book one day. How great would that be to have all of this information in one “contraption” that can be shared with kids and grand kids for years and years to come. So please, continue to share information with me as it comes to your mind… You can send it to pennyg@scottsboro.org
So to my “Finds” today.
These are Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwiches and they are better than you old fashion Ice Cream Sandwich. Now, I am not sure that I want to be “Skinny” like a cow…..Ha! No Joke—These are really good. I know that they have them at Walmart but I am sure Chris would get them at the Pig and I bet we could get them at SFM also. You MUST have lots of different “Ice Cream” treats in the freezer during the summer. Jenna B. told me about these and the next “Find”.
Another Ice Cream Treat but there are sooooo many new ones out there right now that I have to share all of the ones that I have either “tested” or have been told to “test”…ha! I think Teresa W. told me about these. I like to give credit to those that “discovered” these great “Finds”. So if you are “Klondike Fans”, then you will like these “Slim a Bear” treats that are 100 calorie bars.
There is nothing but good with these Weight Watchers English Toffee Crunch Ice Cream Bars. You will think you are eating vanilla ice cream dipped in a melted “Heath Bar”. Liz L. told me about these and of course, I had to give them a try too. These are not just for adults but the kids love them too. That is the one thing that I am realizing as my kids get older- they will eat it-no matter how many calories, if it says “diet” or anything else “healthy” about it. They go for the “TASTE” and if it is good- it will be consumed by them. ha!
My last “bought” Ice Cream Treat. These are made by Blue Bunny and they are Sedona Yogurt and Granola Ice Cream Bars. I found these myself and had to give them a try. I love yogurt and granola so just knew it would have to be something that I would like.
This is a close up what it looks like. They come in chocolate and strawberry. These are not a “little treat” either but a BIG TREAT!!!
I have mentioned this “cold treat” in an earlier post but I had to remind you that if you like orange or the “Dreamsicle” that you used to eat when you were a kid— you will love these. This is the Orange Cream Milk Shake at Hardees and let me tell you it is as good as the poster that is up at Hardees. You might could get by with having this for “brunch” – since it does have orange in it. Ha!
You cannot tell me that when you look at these drinks that you do not get all “sunny” inside and want to find a beach……. Guess where you can get these? No, it is not at a pool. What about Taco Bell!!!! These Strawberry and Mango Drinks have been on the menu a while now but they have two new “cool” drinks that you will want to check out. They are the Frutista Freeze “Pina Colada” and “Strawberry Colada“.
So, if you are needing a “beach treat” but cannot get to the beach right now- take yourself to Taco Bell and see if they can help you out with these great beverages.
If you have been reading the “Purse” for a while now, you will know that I LOVE Sonic DIET Strawberry Limeades (with easy ice). It is right up there with my Diet Mt. Dew. I was with a friend the other night and was talking about “needing” a Strawberry Limeade and she did not realize that you could get “diet” so I wanted to make sure that everyone knew that. The “easy ice” just means you want less ice and more drink. Also, don’t forget that you can purchase Sonic Ice by the bag too. You cannot get any better than “pellet ice” and Sonic is your place to get it.
Also, I have shared the Recipe for Cherry Limeade in my “Recipe Category” but here it is again if you want to make you up a batch of it to keep in the Refrigerator.
Cherry Limeade Punch
1 can frozen limeade concentrate
1 bottle Sprite
1 jar of maraschino cherries
1 lime
Put in the limeade and then add the sprite. Pour in the juice from the cherries. Then add the cherries and sliced up lime for looks and taste. You can make this as a punch in a large bowl. BUT, what I do is make in a container and put in refrigerator. Then you can always transfer to a pretty pitcher if you are serving to others.
One last new treat that I just discovered last night while letting Wendy’s prepare our dinner are these new Frosty Treats. First, I love soft serve ice cream which is a “Frosty” and then I love coffee ice cream. So the “Master Mind” behind these creations should get a huge promotion in the Wendy’s Corporation…. One is a Coffee Milkshake and the other is a combination of coffee and toffee whipped into a Frosty. I can assure you that there is nothing “light” about this but sometimes you just have to go for it and have yourself something that will make you SMILE and say AWWWWW. This will do it! So make plans to try either a Frosty-Cino Coffee Shake or a Coffee Toffee Twisted Frosty.
You have not excuse not to be staying “cool” during the hot days this summer. I know that there are so many other great beverages but these are the ones that I wanted to share with you this week. I will get to the others soon. Don’t want to give you too many and then you will forget what all I have talked about on my “Purse”…..
A few PSA’s- Keep the group of kids and chaperone’s that left yesterday on their Europe Trip in your prayers for safe travels. These are High School Students. Brent Miller is also going so I cannot wait to see some of his great pictures that he takes while traveling.
The Impact Learning Center is having a class on Flyer’s and More from 10:00 to 11:30 am. and the cost is only $20. That would be fun for ALL ages!!!
Check out the Recipe Category. I have added lots of new “sweet fruit” salad recipes.
And I cannot forget about the Blood Drive. You know I am a big supporter of local Blood Drives and I hope if you are able to – that you will join me.
Harbin Ford
will be having a
Blood Drive

Go get yourself a “Cold Treat” and enjoy every last “slurp”…..
I will also be telling you about a new “CREATIVE ARTIST” in Jackson County later this week……. His last name is Graham… and it is not the Judge Graham… You will want to see his great works…
Please remember the family of Karen Johnson (she was the lady that help Debbie at The Market for years and then continued doing plants, pots, etc.) – she passed away yesterday with Pancriatic Cancer.
Until tomorrow-
