I am so excited about this weekend but it is not because I get a few days off work or anything “special” is going on but rather because of the Weather Forecast!!!  At this time, there is absolutely NO rain in the forecast.  I don’t even remember what it is like to have a “rain-free” weekend.  So, you need to make plans now to spend some time outside Saturday and Sunday.

Friday is “officially” the last day of school for kids even though most “made” their last day of school on Thursday or some (like my two)made their last day on Wednesday.  Call me a bad parent but I was not just letting the girls have their way— I was thinking of myself too…Ha!  No lunches to be made, no bed time and no getting them up and having our morning “arguments” of all the things that have to happen to get ready to go to school.  I know you with kids know exactly what I am talking about. ha!

So with it being the first “official” Friday night which really tells us that SUMMER has now begun- You have to celebrate another year “under your belts”. 

What better way to celebrate than Dinner and a Movie!! You let the kids decide where they want to eat:  The following places are all on that end of town (where the Movie Theatre is). 

Captain D’s if they are wanting a little seafood.

Stevarino’s which is right down from the new Movie Theatre and they have great pizza.

Burger King if they are just wanting a hamburger or Chicken Fries (which are my girls favorite along with a Coke Ice)

As I mentioned earlier, the new movie theatre,  Hollywood 10 Cinema officially opened it’s doors last weekend.  MM went on Monday and said it was great.  They have 10 screens with all of the  theatres having Stadium Seating,  Digital Sound and another great thing that they have that many are not aware of…. Birthday Party Rooms!!!  Great idea for those that have winter birthdays and need a change.

I am going to run the Movie Showings”  daily for awhile so that everyone can get in the “hang” of checking to see what is playing and on those rainy days- you will have something to do INSIDE!!  I will then put a category at the side so that it can be updated weekly.  We are so fortunate that we have this right here at our back door!!! 

Saturday is going to be a sunny day so don’t waste your time lingering inside the house.  Get up and get outside.  Go get breakfast and take it to the park to eat or eat on the patio or porch.

If you have not got that summer swimsuit yet- make your way to Hammer’s, Goody 2 Shoes, Walmart, Kmart, JC Penney and another place that people forget that has swim suits is Unclaimed Baggage  Center. 

They always have “NEW” swim suits and I actually got one there last year.  Brand new with tags and all and it was a $110.00 swimsuit that I got for $25.00!!

Whether you are heading to the pool or to the lake- make sure you are prepared and have your sunscreen.  Remember, I have told you about the Neutrogena Sunscreen in my “finds” post.  You can get this at CVS, Walmart or Kmart.  Those are the places that I know have it at this time because I checked there.

Whatever you choose to do- do it outside.  You can always go by The Market and get yourself one of those great ferns!! They are ALL on sale for $19.99!  Flowers that are already pretty and growing well- make a place so much more cheerful!!! 

Take the kids to one of the great parks in town.

With sun and NO RAIN in the weekend forecast- You would be crazy to not get outside and do something.  We will doing the “lake” and how nice it will be to do nothing but relax.  Well, I don’t know about “complete relaxing” because with lots of kids around, it might be impossible at times.. ha! 

So for those that will be on the lake- don’t forget, if you should have some boat problems and need to be “rescued”- You need to call “Little” Jim Helms or “Jimmy” Helms or as I call him– Jim Helms and he will take care of all of your worries.  His “Tow Boat” will take good care of you and get you to land in a matter of minutes.  I bet I am called all kinds names that I don’t know about and probably do not want to  know about. Ha!. Does anyone really just have ONE name that they are called?   No,  I am sure that Jim got his “names” from being the son of  “Jim Helms” and then when  you are a little boy, you have to call them “Jimmy”.  Ha!  That is why I still call my Jimmy…”Jimmy” (I like to think he will be young the rest of his life).  He is not a “Jim” (that is his dad)and I refuse to call him that name.  Even though HE calls himself both…. Have still not figured that out yet and really do not want to get into it with him because I know it is something that I am not going to change…ha!Just like Duck Hunting- it was part of his life before me and there is not stopping him and his camo-self!!!   So back to the “Water Rescue”- if you need “assistance” while out on the water, put this number in your cell phone now!! 259-5814- this is the number to call with your boat issues while on the water. 

Jim also told me that if you go to BoatUS.com (click on it and it will take you straight to site), they have a great deal going right now.  Unlimited towing for a year—ONLY $34.00 a year!!!  He said it was an Internet special only so you would have to get it online.  That deal covers everything!!!

By next Saturday, everyone can start getting their lunch while on the lake  or just out and about at the new Jackson County Park Restaurant, Creek Side Grill.  This is located in the old Restaurant building close to the water.  Steve and Jennifer Petty are the owners and I have heard that they have made great changes to it and will hopefully be open beginning Tuesday, June 2nd.  Will keep you informed on that though.  We used to drive the boat up to the dock at JC Park and get our lunch and then eat it on the boat.  Loved it and so glad that we are going to be able to do that again this summer.  I will try to find out more information on Creek Side Grill and let you know all about the hours and menu!!

Saturday night- How could you not take advantage of the “NO RAIN” weekend and not grill!!!  You know where to head- Scottsboro Meats and Mr. Miller and his creware loving their new place.   It is a “Hamburger and Hot Dog”  Saturday. 

If you do not know this, Scottsboro Meats will not only supply you with the best meat, but they will make your hamburger patties for you!!  I am not a good “pattie” maker so I usually get them to do it for me if I know that hamburgers is what I am making with the meat.  Get him to mix turkey, ground chuck and another meat of choice and it makes the burgers sooooo good.  Many do not know that they will do that for you also.  If you are not a good decision maker at times or just too tired to make a decision regarding meat- just ask Mr. Miller or one of his “Meat Men” and they will be glad to make your decision for you.

As for Sunday- continue your “outside” weekend. Either make lunch and go have a picnic and go by and get “take out” and have a picnic with it.  Picnic is food –no matter what it is or where it came from!!!   Go to one of the walking trails in town- King Caldwell Park, Jackson County Park, City Park or Goose Pond Colony. (Not sure if they are all the way cleaned up from the Gravity Storm, but worth looking into)

For Sunday Night Dinner- do some more grilling.  Chicken, Boneless Pork Chops (those are to die for at the Scottsboro Meats- 1 inch thick…) and put some vegetables on their too.  Check out Grocery Specials Category- peppers are on sale as well as new red potatoes, fresh green beans, asparagus, etc. are all in the grocery stores right now.  Also, check the Recipe Category for some recipes.  I have several summer salad recipes that I have got to add but there are several of my favorite recipes on there already.  Make sure you check out the Chocolate Chip Cheese Cake recipe that Kim N. sent me.  So easy and SO GOOD!!!
