Thursday, May 6:Virginia went this morning to get the results of her latest scan and she got great news. The scans showed the brain tumor has shrunk down to just scar tissue and no new places showed up. She starts a new chemo this afternoon but she can go into treatment with a little less anxiety. Please continue to keep she and her family in your prayers.
Thursday, April 15: Following is from Jenna (Virginia’s daughter) I am sending out a prayer request for my Mother today. She will start radiation this morning and have a chemo treatment this afternoon. Combining these 2 treatments will take a real toil on her body. I just ask that you pray specifically forthe chemo and radiation do its job while having minimal side effects on her physically and mentally. As manyof you know, cancer treatment is tougher on the body than the actual cancer. BUT we are so happy that Dr. Schreeder is being so aggressive….we have total confidence in him and her radiologist, Dr. Childs.
Mother will finish up her current chemo treatment next Thursday and will start a final round of an even more potent chemo after that. Thank you for your prayers….please keep them coming!
Friday, April 2: Following are words from Virginia- giving an update how things are going for her right now. “Today has been a LONG day but well worth it! As some of you know, today was another scan of my lung tumor to see how it was reacting to this last chemo. I had the scan done this AM and got the results mid-afternoon before my 9th treatment. It appears that this present chemo has done its job as well as the first one withoutdamaging my veins nearly as much. Dr. Schreeder said if he had not known where the tumor was located in my lung, then he would never have seen it in this scan!!!!!!!!! None the less, we are going to continue on with his plan of action for another 3 treatments of this chemo and then go with one more drug. I am to see the radiologist this coming Monday to set up some radiation treatments which had already been discussed (in Dr. Schreeder’s original plan of action). I know this seems OVERKILL to most of you but our family does not want to be seeing an oncologist again next Christmas like the last two years. As Dr. Schreeder said today, “we are going to go “FULL COURT PRESS” which Big Don says is a basketball term meaning going all out, covering ALL bases to win the game!!! I, along with my family, truly like Dr. Schreeder’s aggressiveness.” Please continue to keep she and her family in your prayers. She is very appreciative of all the prayers and acts of kindness which have been shown to her during the past few months.
Thursday, March 4: Virginia had another treatment today. She has been struggling with a cold/sinus infection this week so she was not sure if she get her treatment. But thanks to some strong penicillin meds earlier in the week, she was able to. Her counts were UP and everything went as planned.
She continues to be thankful for all the prayers and ask that you keep them coming.
Monday, March 1:Virginia has started on a new cycle and type of chemo that she does every Thursday. She still has a wonderful attitude! Please keep her in your prayers as she goes through these weekly chemo treatments. The Webbs thank again to everyone for all of their kindnesses
Thursday, February 18: Virginia came home from the hospital today and is enjoying being in her own house. She will be taking it easy for a few days. Keep her in your prayers.
Tuesday, February 16: Virginia was taken to Huntsville Hospital yesterday- blood clots on her lungs. They got a good report from Doctor last night. Thinks the medicine will dissolve the clots and she will be home soon. Please keep she and her family in your prayers. As of this morning, Virginia is feeling okay and so very thankful for every one’s prayers.
Tuesday, February 9: Virginia got the BEST report that she could have gotten yesterday while seeing the radiologist. The tiny tumor (located in the back of her head) had decreased in size and she will not see the radiologist for another 3 months following the scan. The surgically removed tumor still showed nothing but a “whole in her head” so that is fantastic too!! She is so appreciative of all the prayers and feels truly blessed. Continue to keep her in your prayers.
Thursday, January 21: Virginia had her 2nd chemo treatment today. She is on 2 week cycle at this time. Please continue to keep her in your prayers and that they radiation worked and the chemo is doing it’s job too. She will begin having scans in February.
Thursday, January 7:Virginia has completed her radiation treatments and had scans today which showed NO new cancer!! Answered prayers. She got to watch the snow fall while she had her first chemo treatment today. (She loves snow as much as I do) Continue to keep her in your prayers as all her family.
Thursday, December 31: (Following is an update from Jenna, Virginia’s daughter) Mother will finish her radiation treatments next Tuesday. She will have more scans and start chemo on Thursday (the 7th). The radiation has given her minimal side effects, but she is anxious for this part of her treatment to be OVER. She hopes to never wear the “mask” again!!!! Having the mask bolted down during treatments has been tough, but she has fought the anxiety and gotten through it with a smile on her face. She amazes me..I am so proud of her.
A lot of you have asked me about Dad.let me fill you in. Libba, Don and I
are always on “call” but Dad has amazed me throughout this whole ordeal.
God is giving him extra strength right now. Those of you who have been
caretakers know what I am talking about. His first priority is and always has been taking care of and loving Mother..but he is still working and being Daddy Don to his grand-kids too. That man loves his family like no one I have ever seen before (not that I am biased!).
I ask you to pray specifically for the radiation to have killed the tumor in the back of Mother’s head. Please pray that the chemo will kill any other cancer cells that might be in her body. I also ask you to pray that no new spots show up on her scans. God is good and He has answered so many of our prayers. We are so blessed.
Monday, December 8: Virginia is doing really well with the radiation treatments. She has 10 more daily radiation treatments which will finish up the first week of January. Then she will start chemo. We are looking forward to a wonderful holiday together. Thanks again to everyone for all of their kindnesses. Please keep her in your prayers. Merry Christmas!
Tuesday, December 8: (following is an update from Jenna- I thought she put it much better than I could) A lot of positive things have happened since Thanksgiving in getting Mother
ready for her fight! I wanted to take a minute and let you know what lies
ahead.
Sunday, November 28: : Virginia’s “marker” procedure went well and she came home Wednesday afternoon. Three more places on her head had to be shaved before the procedure so she told the nurses to go ahead and shave it all. Jenna said it was a pretty bad haircut anyway so at least we have that much dreaded “task” over with!! The gauze came off Friday and she is starting to wear some scarves. They are needing some help on different ways to tie these things!! CCI actually has a class showing cancer patients how to do this. They cannot say enough about CCI–That place is amazing….truly.
We met with Dr. Childs (radiologist) this morning and he has scheduled her stereotactic “zap” radiation for Thursday. She will go to Blackwell Towers to have this done. Dr. Childs feels very confident that this advanced-type of radiation will kill this tumor! After the stereotactic radiation, Mother will go through 15 days of radiation on the removed tumor site. This is for precaution only. She goes back to Dr. Scheeder (oncologist) tomorrow to find out when her chemo will start.
I will be honest and say that we are not thrilled to be going through
treatment during the holidays, but since CCI doesn’t take a break, we won’t either!!! Please say a prayer that our spirits remain high during the next few weeks and that the radiation and chemo does it’s job while giving her minimal side effects.
We love Mother’s doctors and still feel so good about the treatment they
have planned for her. Thank you again for letting me have another therapy session with you. Please keep Mother’s name on all of your church prayers lists. I feel your prayers and I know the rest of my family does too. I can’t say thank you enough for all of the kind gestures….please keep praying. That is the best gift anyone can give her right now. God has answered so many of our prayers and I know he will continue to watch over us.
I hope you are all enjoying this holiday season. Hold your family tight and tell them y ou love them over and over again. You never know when tragedy might strike your family and it sure is easier to deal with tough times when you have a rock solid foundation to start with. My family is blessed and God is good.
Virignia had to go back to Hville today (Sunday) for an MRI. She will have a mask made tomorrow in preparation for her radiation. Then the physicist and radiologist will meet and do about 8-10 hrs. of preparation for her “zap” of radiation. We hope that will take place the first of next week. Then chemo will begin after that. The family appreciates the cards, calls, food and most importantly the prayers that are being sent.
Tuesday, November 24: The past week has been full of doctor’s appointments! They have been back to Huntsville to the CCI almost every day since coming home from surgery. They all really like her oncologist (Schreeder) and radiologist (Childs). They are working together to give her the best care available….They have total confidence in what they have planned for her.
Virginia will have an outpatient procedure at Huntsville Hospital tomorrow. Three “markers” will be placed in her head which will allow the doctors to pinpoint exactly where the radiation needs to go….to the small tumor in the back of her brain. She will follow up with chemo treatments in a couple of weeks.
God has answered so many of their prayers and given them so many options in ways to treat this cancer. Virginia has a long road ahead of her but she will not be alone. She has a pretty amazing support group!
Please keep Virginia and her family in your prayers.
Monday, November 23: All is going well with Virginia. She spent Friday at Doctor’s appointment. There were no new hot spots on her PET scan. They met with her oncologist today and all went well there too. Please continue to pray for she and her family.
Monday, November 16: Virginia came home from the hospital on Saturday. She is walking around, eating and feeling better each day. She will be going for test tomorrow so please keep her in your prayers.
Thursday, November 12 (evening): Virginia was moved into a room this afternoon. She is doing well at this time.
Thursday, November 12: The 10:30 a.m. visit today went well. She hopes that her mom will get out of ICU soon. They may not get to see Dr. Schreeder today but rather tomorrow. Their main focus at this time is to get Virginia healed from surgery.
Wednesday November 11:(after surgery) Virginia is out of surgery. They were able to remove the whole tumor. 1st answered prayer.
The tumor was malignant but it is NOT is not a primary cancer. 2nd answered prayer The surgeon said, “It went perfectly.” They will meet with Dr. Schreeder (Oncologist) tomorrow but this will be just a “meet and greet” because he will have to do all of his test, etc. before anything else can be determined. Virginia is still in recovery but will be moved to ICU later this afternoon and she will remain there for hopefully only 24 hours.
I cannot express to you how much they feel all of the prayers. They know that this is just the beginning of a long journey but they also know that God will provide strength and faith for them to get through one day at a time. Jenna ask that you not stop praying. They know that their mom is in God’s hands and he is going to take good care of her. They are very positive but will need strength and courage to face each step that will have to be taken in the coming days, weeks and months.
Wednesday, November 11: Please say a prayer this morning for Jenna and Elizabeth’s mom. She will have surgery around 9:30 and it will take anywhere from 2 1/2 to 5 hours. I will update you as I know news. Jenna told me last night that they need ALL the prayers that they can get. No matter how bad this may seem at this moment, we all know the God has the power to do miraculous things. We often forget to prayer for the doctors but they need prayers for guidance and wisdom just as much as anyone does.
Tuesday, November 10: Most of you know Virginia Webb was admitted to Huntsville Hospital last night after an MRI showed two masses on her brain. She will have surgery in the morning at 9:30 to remove the one on the front. She has had MANY test done over the last 24 hours and they are now waiting on the results. Please keep this family in your prayers.
Her mom does not want any visitors at this time but what she does want and need is our prayers. I will try to keep everyone updated as I know more. There is no reason to say what we know prayers can do and that is what they are leaning on at this time.
