If you still have names on your Christmas List with “nothing” written out beside the name, I have some suggestions for you. The great thing about these is that they are all were “created” by some of our talented Scottsboro and Jackson residents.

B.B. Comer Bridge Prints are still available through “Friends Helping Friends” Group. Local Artist, John Warr, is responsible for this amazing piece. All proceeds from this print will benefit the Friends Helping Friends Disaster Relief Fund. This is a limited edition print and is $100 and the artist proof is $200. The Scottsboro Jr. Progress Organization is responsible for the wonderful cookbook. If you did not purchase one of the first editions, you missed out. Don’t miss out this time. These recipes are ones that the Jr. Progress ladies have submitted. (If you ever have a question regarding one, you can just give them a call. Ha!) These are not your normal bead jewelry….These are some of Lisa Reece’s “Handmade/Hand-blown” beads that she makes herself. Then she takes those beads and turns them into bookmarks, earrings, necklaces and bracelets. These are “one-of-a-kind” beadsand the colors are to die for…. The earrings above are also sterling silver. If you would like to see her work, you can go by her office where she has all of it on display. She is located at 416 East Laurel Street and you can contact her at lkpreece@hotmail.com

Nancy Bradford’s Paintings are very nice gifts that would be received with open arms. To see more of Nancy’s work, you can go to her website by clicking here. Don’t forget that Nancy has her original Angel and Cross paintings at The Country Cottage (located on Laurel Street). These are perfect gifts for anyone (especially those that you need to spend around $30).

I shared with you earlier in the week that Sue Freeman has an “Art Show” going on at First Southern State Bank. The show will be going on through Friday, December 11th. She sold a painting her first day to one of my Purse Readers!! (Thank You to that person for reading my “purse”.) You would think that Sue had been painting all of her life but she has NOT!!! She started her painting career in her latter years and to think she had all of this talent “bottled up” inside her. Ha! If you would like to see more of Sue’s “treasures”, you can see it in person at the Art Show or you can email her at suefreem@scottsboro.org and ask her all the questions you want. Ha!
Even though Bill has been under the weather the last few months, he still has many paintings that you could choose from. Bill Strain’s work is amazing and you would never think those big hands could do the job that he does with them- like painting. I love this one with the red roofs. It just grabs your eyes. If you would like to see what other paintings that Bill has available to purchase, you may contact him at bstrain@scottsboro.org

Sonja West is a name that is heard allot around town. She is another one that has “hands” from God. Ha! She has some of her work at The Grapevine. You will find ornaments, tools, cards and the pieces that I loved were the canvas paintings of buildings around town. She has one of Payne’s Soda Shop, The Chamber of Commerce, The Veranda Cafe Building, etc. VERY good prices too. You need to go by The Grapevine and see all that she has there.

Marlene Johnt is another talented artist in the area. I like to describe her work as bright and vibrant. Her colors are bold and that is what I like about this painting. She has a cow that is really good too. Marlene lives in Scottsboro and would be glad to show you more of her work. You may contact her at marlene@scottsboro.org

Fancee’s is all about “beads“, whether it is picture frames, mugs, bowls, glasses, etc. you can be assured that they all will be adorned with lots of pretty beads. Ramona Collins and Connie Stevenson are the talented ladies behind these creations. If you are interested in seeing all that they have, you can email Ramona at mcollins@scottsboro.org

I am showing you this glass because I love snowmen and snow. Erica Russell has some of the cutest items for the big kids and the little kids. We have some of Erica’s glasses and I can tell you first hand that they are extremely durable. The glasses are put in the dishwasher almost every day and there is not any flaws on them. The material that make the designs are tough!!! She can put vinyl on platters, plates, pitchers (which I have a water pitcher), jars, etc. (you name it and she can do good things with it).

This is another one of Erica’s “goods”. These “portable desk/trays” are great for kids. They can draw, do homework, eat or even play with their toys on it. The “sides” are great to keep colors and other things in. You can have other themes than “trucks” too. You can let her know what you would like. If you are interested in ordering something from Erica, you can email her at ericajsu@yahoo.com

If you are interested in any of Misti Myers Photography “Architectural Photos” like the Jackson County Courthouse Clock, you still have time to get your order in for those Christmas Gifts. She also has some great photos of theScottsboro Methodist Church, Scottsboro City Hall and I love the one below because it is in my childhood “stomping grounds”….Limrock, Alabama. These would make wonderful Christmas gifts and would be appreciated by anyone who has lived here in Jackson County. You can look at all of Misti’s work by going to her website by clicking here.

And then this “landmark” is another great photo for some. (I had never noticed the “slogan” for Mr. D’s—”Where Cash Talks”….Ha!)

No, it is not the beautiful face that I am wanting you to consider buying for a Christmas Gift but rather these great and unique charms around her neck. Denise White is the creative mind behind these charms. I was given two of her charms for my birthday and I get compliments every time I wear them. You must see her work and you can at Talk of the Town. You can find a charm that will go with the person’s personality, “likes” or “interests”, etc. Great gift idea!

The Scottsboro Volleyball Team is selling these Wildcat Garden Stepping Stone (Pavers). They are concrete and measure 18″ X 18″ X 2″, weighing approximately 40-45 lbs. These would be great gift for parents, coaches, etc. They are $30.00. If you are interested in these, you need to contact Cathy here.

If you did not have the opportunity to see Redmon Graham’s creative workat Art Sunday a few months ago, you MISSED OUT!!! This is one of the many pieces that he had to sell. I think he pretty much sold out of everything. What is so unique about Redmon’s work is that they are all “one-of-a-kind” and each is made out of scraps, junk, tools and basically anything “item” he may have dug up out of the yard or found in dumpster. Ha! Each piece has been namedand the names complete the work. I have one that is named Mrs. Pinky and she has these huge pearl earrings and I think of my Aunt Eb every time that I look at her. (Aunt Eb loves BIG ear-bobs as she calls them) His work is what I call a definite “conversation piece“. If you are interested in seeing some of Redmon’s creations, you can email him at redmongraham@hotmail.com

John Warr is well known all over Jackson County. Many of you have his Civil War Prints, Alabama Prints and other outdoor prints. What you may not know is that he does amazing portraits of people, places, animals, etc. The one above is one that John painted of Fire Chief Lonnie Webb. He did a fabulous job, I must say. If you would like to see more of John’s work, you can click here to go to his website. Don’t forget he has many pieces of artwork framed and ready for you to purchase.
